The Dragon Boat Race has been a long standing event in the town and it supports a number of national and local charities.  DCI have participated in the race in previous years, and this time around, they are looking to help raise funds for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Trust.

Founded in 1991, the charity began with the aim of providing an air ambulance service for Lincolnshire.  They later approached the Nottingham Ambulance Service in order to extend the service into two counties and have flown over 16,000 missions since 1994.  The charity is currently government funded with a total of 26 staff spread across the 2 counties and an incredible group of volunteers who help them make it all possible.

A spokesperson for DCI commented:

We are looking forward to taking part in what is now a well established fundraising event in the town, and we felt it important to support a charity that operated in Lincolnshire too.  We took part a few years ago so our team know that there’s a lot of hard work involved, but we’re hoping that we can be successful as a crew and raise funds for charity in the process.

The event will take place on Sunday 16th August at Witham Country Park and there will be several catering outlets on site as well as children’s rides and bouncy castles, face painters and entertainers to keep everyone occupied between races.
