Sales of printer hardware through distributors in Western Europe during early Q2 were flat year-on-year. This improvement follows a steady decline in printer hardware sales over the last four quarters according to the latest distribution data published by IT market intelligence company CONTEXT.
Inkjet MFPs which account for almost 60% of all imaging sales in the region, were up by +4% during early Q2 (weeks 1–12). Laser MFPs also registered a year-on-year increase in sales of +7%, whilst sales of both laser and inkjet single function printers were down for the quarter. This is in keeping with the ongoing shift from single function to multifunction devices.
